Michael O'Neill, Founder and President

Mike O’Neill is a seasoned fundraising leader with more than 30 years experience in the education and non profit sectors. Collectively, the organizations he served raised nearly $2 billion in philanthropic revenue. He founded Beneficence Partners in 2022 to share his expertise and propel mission-driven organizations forward by maximizing philanthropy and creating sustainable cultured of giving.

Prior to founding Beneficence Partners, O’Neill spent 14 years as a Senior Vice President for University Advancement at Villanova University. At Villanova, he raised $1.2 billion for capital, endowment, and programmatic priorities during his transformative tenure, and served on its Executive Council, President’s Cabinet and as an officer of the University.


Al Checcio, Of Counsel

With over 45 years of direct advancement and management experience, Al Checcio has been responsible for some of the most successful campaigns in higher education. Most recently, as Senior Vice President of University of Southern California, he designed and implemented a $7B campaign, at the time the largest campaign in higher education. 

Al is a nationally recognized advancement leader, building comprehensive programs at a range of institutions in higher education and healthcare, including in addition to USC, Fordham University, University of Pittsburgh, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Temple University and American University. 

He has extensive management expertise leading staffs from 40 to 450 professionals. Has worked with volunteers and donors at the highest level of philanthropy. 

Al retired from USC as senior vice president in 2020 and then served as advisor to USC president Carol Folt. He currently is an advisor to Drexel University president John Fry.
